On my way to work yesterday, came around the corner and there's a moose.
It had a small, palmate antler on one side, with two or three really strange looking points on it. The palm itself was three or four inches across. It kind of looked like a hand with three of the fingers chopped off.
I didn't get a great look at it, as it hit the thick stuff as soon as it saw me.
But it left me with a question.
In that case, do I basically ignore the palm, and look at the points only in determining whether it's a two-point or not?
I never considered the possibility that a two-point could have a palmate antler before, and as soon as I saw the palm I immediately thought "that can't be a shooter". But now I'm wondering.
