Ran into this young guy while scouting. He was moving pretty quick and got close, when he started getting to close I got in the truck, waited for him to move away a little then started shooting off shotgun rounds in the air so he doesn't think humans are all good. He moved quick once i started blasting lol.

Id say, I could have reached out and poked him on the nose. No aggression but was very cautious

was surprised because iv never even seen young ones come this close, and this was a long ways out of town, not many humans out this way.

That kind of behavior is going to get that youngster in some trouble.

yup, thats why I started firing and chasing him, chased him a ways, its odd because theres not much human activity out this way. He was very cautious but still odd how he came up like that

True, hence why I did my best to scare the piss outta him, maybe a bad encounter with a human will help

Glad to hear you took the time to properly educate him. Sadly a tourist would have done the opposite. Good on ya.

thanks, It was neat being that close but I would hate to see a bear killed for the wrong reason, We don't need this bear being fed and getting accustomed to humans, so I got my pictures and hopefully he learned his lesson once the shotgun and being chased happened. And I did chase him for a ways into the bush while firing into the air. Hopefully I saved that guys life.

Well done. You should have blasted the truck horn a few time, maybe it would give him an aversion to vehicles.

Good pics

He's getting a little too easy going.

That road looks good enough for a cadillac

yeah that was the smoothest part of the road, the rest of it will kick the living shat out of your vehicle.

Yeah a little to easy going is right, I was standing right in front of him taking the pics, I could have literally reached over and patted him on the head so thats when I grabbed the gun and hopefully taught it a lesson.

That bear was being aggressive and without a gun or your truck it could have been very dicey. You did the right thing of course though that bear probably would have been good eating .

Young bears are often bullied and ran off by bigger bears . So the young ones sometimes try the same thing even on an adult human. A friend of mine was chased into a pond by a black bear about the same size only it was much more aggressive , circling him constantly at close range , all he had was a survey hatchet , eventually the bear left him.

yeah I got nervous for a second as the bear circled the vehicle and as I walked back it popped out, scared the living shat out of me , stayed its distance for a bit but had no fear when coming right towards me, It would have been right up to me if I didn't get in the truck.

this is before it met mr.shotgun and ran,
