I hadn't planned on going out as I thought it was too early for the elk to be coming to calls. After reading Todd Bartell's post about calling in a bull, I decided to see if anything was answering in the Peace area. I walked into an area I've had success in before and cow chirped. An immediate short bugle answered and I heard him coming. It took a couple tense minutes of hearing him crashing towards me before I saw the antlers moving through the trees. He stepped out on the trail and the fun was over with the first shot, then the work started. He's not a heavy antlered bull, but big body and lots of fat. Should be good eating.
No field photos as I forgot the camera. I find a great recipe for success is to leave the camera at home...

Yup called once and he came in go figure guys work a week walk a country mile and do not see hide or hair of one ..........congratulation though might have to buy a lottery ticket too LOL
