I've used a Kenwood TK-270 portable for over 15 years. It is 32 channels and is field programmable (very easy). This model is is no longer made, but you can find used ones on e-bay.

You don't want a UHF for the truck you want a VHF.

If you hunting spots are not far out of cell range you might want to consider one of these cell phone booster kits https://www.smoothtalker.com/

They are fairly expensive around 500 bucks if I remember correctly but it boosts cell range quite a bit allowing you to text or make calls where you would normally not be able to do so.

I have one and some of our hunting spots are outside of cell range and using the kit I have been able to get cell service make calls and keep in touch with the family where I never used to be able to.

I would not recommend this for areas that are very far into the bush as the system does have limitations. It also mostly vehicle based.
