Got out with the wife and Grandson James for birds.
Hit a covey right off the bat containing 5 grouse.
Duffy flushed a pair together which I promptly missed :cry:with 2 shots.
Another one rose next which I dropped. Now the gun is empty!! The last two flushed and disappeared into the huck. We started after them trying to keep the dog close. Put the 1st one up and I piled him up. 2nd one rises I get another poke at it and it sails off unscathed. James is not impressed:icon_frow!!! He says it will be a different story next Sept. when he's legal???? Dec.26 of this year we'll be in a duck blind for his christening as a shooter:-D. Find another covey flush 4 at once and lo and behold I make a double only to flub an easy 3rd shot??? Saw one more covey and made a bad decision approaching them had a boy and dog in the line of flight so couldn't get a crack at them. Very impressed with the number of birds we encountered. Looks like a good survival? In our area anyway.Hope others are having similar fortune?? Cheers, Field Marshal

Sounds like a good day to me. It easy to miss easy shots, your grandson will learn soon enough. How old is your Model 12, it has a small forend simallar to mine which is 80 years old.

Good to see someone else out braving the weather on a holiday stroll. Sounds like the bird population did well in your area in spite of the cool, wet spring. Too bad they didn't survive the weekend. Good shooting. Great pics.

Nice work! Like the numbers. I've yet to get out with the wife and dog to look around. Sure hope we can find a covey or two like you!

Survival rate seems good in my area. Got out a couple of times and the dog put up birds both times.

Well done. I was out this past weekend. We only got 2.

Got 19 in the same area last year. Saw 60 plus birds.
