I was wondering if anyone can give a reference for a local smith who is good with old model 99's with rotary magazines. I have one from 1939 that needs a going over, It's a model 99g delux in .300 savage. Love to hear from anyone using a 99 in .300 for hunting locally I haven't fired it yet but am considering hunting with it this year.

I picked one up awhile ago( only has 20 rounds through it) and was planning on taking it for a couple of walks this year, don't think I'll take it bear hunting but I could take it for a back up.

What should a person expect to pay for one? I've always wanted a 99, and would consider buying one.

I have an old 99a in .300, topped with an Alaskan all-weather 2.5X scope that was my great-granddad's... it's a beauty little rifle thats taken more game than I'll ever bag myself. It took my first deer :) You'll enjoy it.

Sorry I can't help with the gun smith though.
