I would like to hunt the fraser for Chucker but i would like to switch it up during the day and put the dog on lead and hunt big game as well.I would like to carry a Centerfire rifle in my pack while handling my over under my question is how would a C/O perceive this?

Doesn't really matter about the firearm. The Co could interpet the shotgun as possibly having slugs,or buck shot so either weapon would be considered as the "firearm" used for hunting, depending on the game you are in pursuit. If the dog is off leash and working birds,no problem. The issue would be if the dog got onto a deer, elk track or whatever you might be chasing, and the dog was "off leash" while you were in pursuit.(excemptions being cougars, bears, during season)If the dog picks up a track, put it onto the lead and you should be good to go.

Dogs

4The use of dogs is permitted in the hunting of all game, but dogs
must be on a leash when used to hunt deer, elk, moose, mountain
sheep, mountain goat and caribou. Unleashed dogs may be used to
hunt small game, lynx, bobcat, grizzly bear, black bear or cougar. Any
person may train dogs by allowing them, under supervision, to pursue
game birds from August 1 to April 30.

One issue that you may run into is having 2 firearms.

I remember reading that while hunting you are only allowed to carry one firearm.

as for the dog on big game... Kyla has to be on a leash, when hunting chukar let her do what she does best!

You can't carry more than one "shotgun", a shotgun and a rifle are ok.
If you carry 2 shotguns, one must be disassembled!

is a chukar a migratory bird??? upland as far as I know, though I have been wrong before.

Note 5:
" Must not use more than 1 shotgun while hunting migrtory game birds, unless each shotgun in excess of one is disassembled or unloaded and incased"

My dog is always off leash but I am prospecting first & hunting comes second.

I've wondered about this too...I'm gonna carry a combo gun. I'll be upland hunting, but if she pushs a deer, I'll be ready..and I figure legal.
