Hunted there about 20 years now. For me, that is an area where the BIG one usually gets away. The widest buck Ive ever seen was close to town!

i have been stopping at the clinton gas station on hunting trips for 4 years now, never really thought about hunting that area thou. last year on our trip to gang ranch, just 2 minutes before clinton we saw a large group of muleys on the side of the highway in which there was 2 really good bucks. maybe i should check that area out this fall. the area sure looks promising.

My buddy had a 6x6 almost step on him last year. He was laying behind a log glassing a field and it walked right up beside him. Scared the shit out of him. Never got a shot off at it, by the time he blinked it was gone.

Going there east of there on Monday for junior hunt. The deer there are all small though, if you want big deer you gotta go to Clearwater:mrgreen:

Ive been hunting more the cache creek area the last 4 years for mulies, and have found that the more north you go, the bigger and the more bucks you get meaning getting closer to Clinton and beyond. Im going to gang ranch this year. I dont think I will hunt cache creek area anymore.

If you extrapolate that trend all the way to Clearwater, just imagine how big the bucks are!!

Interesting comments. I have found the further north the body grows, but nice large wide typical racks are hard to find beyond Cache Creek. The deer all seem to morf into non-typical around 4 - 5 years of age around region 5.

Around Vernon/Kelowna/Penticton I have seem Big wide typical racks more than anywhere.
