Stealing BCRams idea here. Our hunt was much shorter but here goes.

We took off from the Muskwa boat launch, And planned on hunting the headwaters of Zippermouth Creek. Here is the captain launching his boat.

Here is myself and lordbrown packed up, ready to rock. My noble beast Jake is on his first sheep hunt.

Found an outfitter camp the first night. No one was home. The camp was in pretty rough shape. We could tell it had been used last year. It was 8:00 PM August 30th, and since no one was there, we decided it wouldnt hurt if we slept the night there and took off early in the morning. Here we are having hot dogs, happy as hell to be sleeping in a cabin this night since it was starting to rain.

http://i803.photobucket.com/albums/yy311/Coming_out_heavy/IMG_0238.jpg

At 10:30 PM a 10 horse pack string showed up with guide, hunters, wrangler, and cook. Needless to say the guide was not happy. We went from being in bed, a real bed, to hitting the trail in the dark and rain. Not a very good deal. Here is our new accomodation for the first night.

Midnight, still in shock over being booted out of bed.

We arrived at the upper Zippermouth and found a nice place to set up camp where we could glass 2 sides of the valley and have the odd dip in the creek. It was hot as hell July 31.

http://i803.photobucket.com/albums/yy311/Coming_out_heavy/126.jpg

No tent.... bug nets were a must. No sleep without em.

lordbrown found 5 rams, and 2 goats July 31. We decided that one of them was worth a close look. We were pretty sure he was legal, and had a good feeling 2 more were as well. We put them to bed with the intention of waking up with them and getting into position during the morning.

Of course it started to rain at 5:00 AM opening day. We did get a glimpse of the rams before the clouds really socked in, they were right where we wanted them =). We hit the trail dry but were soaked in minutes.

http://i803.photobucket.com/albums/yy311/Coming_out_heavy/IMG_0264.jpg

4 hours later we were where we figured we needed to be. One problem. We couldnt see 40 feet.

OK, the suns out, the clouds pissed off. We made a good call on where we figured we should get to so we would be in range to age the rams and shoot one if we decided to. We were ready to rock. But no rams....

http://i803.photobucket.com/albums/yy311/Coming_out_heavy/171.jpg

lordbrown comes through again. He spies this guy much higher than we expected them to be. This ram is a legal 8 year old, curled right to the nose, but not quite what we were after. We knew there was one better one in this group and we wanted to find him. There was another legal ram just like this guy in the group. There were also two 3/4 curl "dinks".

At 3:30 PM the other 4 rams come out on the run to feed. They were lower than the one we found bedded up higher. The first ram out stopped to eat at 401 yards. 30 seconds later we got a look at the one we wanted to see, a nice 9 year old broomed ram. lordbrown took a quick photo of his view down the gun before he made 2 great shots. Double lung x2.

http://i803.photobucket.com/albums/yy311/Coming_out_heavy/177.jpg

And a minute later after we watched the ram roll ass over teakettle down the slope. It always ends up being steeper than you thought doesnt it?

And here is a happy lordbrown. His second stone ram. An upgrade to his first by quite a margin. Good job Brown.

Caped, deboned, and ready to go. 3 hour walk down to camp. On the way down I ended up kicking a log that had a bee nest in it. lordbrown got a bee up his shirt that started to sting him. He screamed at me to get the Eff out of the way. So here we are, 2 guys loaded with sheep, trying to RUN down a steep wet hill. Needless to say it was pretty ugly and we both ended up falling down and nearly getting hurt bad, but god did I laugh. Almost peed. I just had to add that.

And a beauty walk out of the mountains. We had to walk BACK through the outfitter camp, loaded. We were ready for battle, but it went much smoother than we expected. The guide was very polite and congratulated Brown on his ram. He even half ass scored it for us =). We both agreed that under different circumstances we would probably enjoy a bullshit and beers together. They had gotten a ram on opening day as well, so his hunter was happy as the pressure was off. Id hate to be in his shoes when he had to explain to his hunter that residents arent "normally" sleeping in their beds when they arrive.

Some misery shots. Pouring rain, steep sections through an old burn. Lots of slipping on wet grass and hidden wet sticks under the wet grass. This is actually way steeper than the picture looks. Had to lock the hubs in this area. The dog handled it alot better than we did.

Great Job! We have taken our dog Stone Sheep Hunting too, just part of the Crew! Nice Country, looks lush for sure. I have shown up and found residents camped in our Outfitters cabin as well while guiding a client, no need to get pissy, I've even shared accomadation with them for the night. No big deal, as long as no-one makes it a big deal. I'm certainly not going to sleep in the rain if there is a empty cabin nearby. Thanks for sharing your awesome adventure! Cheers!

Thnx for the comments guys, we should toss some more stories and pics on here, we have alot of em! Quote "I'm so Effing cold.... I'd suck a dick for some sunshine!" LMAO! Nyways... Yea that ram was 9 years old, scored 165 5/8" (Still to be determined by an official measurerer but that was being very modest) What else? Oh the Neo, yea its pretty good, no where near as comfortable as the regular thermarest, but i mean really tough for how light weight it is. Who doesnt like to cut a bit of weight to make room for a lil rum to celebrate with...well the days before the dog, now im getting lazy :P Thnx Jake!

That was a great read. Thanks for puttin it up. Sitkaspruce and I did the same thing 20 years ago. I Found an outfitters cabin in the middle of nowhere, and while Sitka was out for an afternoon Hike, I moved us in:-D
He was worried the guy might show up, but I thought, so what, we will move if he does, and I doubted it anyway, as it was early Sept. We stayed there for a few days, and there was a horse still living in the area, that I would visit with every day. Great memories....
