Yep, a very well hunted area, usually just as many hunters as there are deer. If your lookin for company then Lost Creek is the place to be.

Is there any elk in there?

Thumbs up to elk in there but it's MU 4-08 so won't be open til October. Is the access road still gated and posted as private?

unfortunately no because it's a tributary of the Salmo River.

Well, i was told it was 4-07. That's why I'm asking questions!!! So I have to go east more to get into the elk. I'm guessing it's height of land that separates the 2 mu's?

If your serious about hunting elk it's worth while getting a topo map and learning how to read it properly, even BC Backroads mapbooks work well for MU's. A must skill for ANY hunter, period.

Ya, the boundary is the height of land. You might be disappointed to find out that a lot of the nice elk country in 4-07 is private land. Send me a PM if you want me to recommend some general areas for you.

Lost creek is way into 4-08 and is gated and posted. You have a good 20km to get to 4-07 which is height on land at stagleap park on top of the Salmo Creston. For elk you need to drop down more towards Creston....

i was out scouting on the weekend in 4-08. Found quite a bit of fresh elk sign, lots of moose, and a few muley and whitetails. Im pretty stoked to head out on wednesday. Hopefully my leg is all better by then. Hiking around in that thick underbrush should be fun if it doesnt. Also ran into a nice 5x5 while on the quads.

and as to 4-07 being private and gated, the guy i was scouting with has a key and permission, which i found out on the weekend. might be headed that direction on oct 1st if bow season doesnt pan out. That, or up to Toppley for the bow moose season.

I used to live in Slimo and lost crk was a favorite for spring bear and late season mulies. I rarely saw a sole in there, especially 4hrs up the mountain. Last I saw of it it was gated, locked, posted and generally looking unfriendly. There was squatters living up there in some pretty remote places. This is going back 15 years now.
