Went for a Look around a cut block and this guy was just a little to slow getting outta there.
Shot him with a 35 Whelen AI 225 grn Barnes X
Lots of fat on his back, was in excellent shape
Should be some great eating :-D
sorry for only a head shot, but I forgot my camera back at the truck.

Eric

How did that 225 grn bullet in the Whelen do? I know it killed him, but can you expand on the performance?

Thanks
Paul

Nice job...why is it though, that it always seems to be the folks up in 7b that find the elusive spike/fork bulls, when they have the only GOS for mature bulls (I know I know, not the WHOLE season and not EVERYWHERE is any bull)...oh well, I guess we can drive 12 hours for the same fun :)

Hey 35 Whelen.

This rifle really shoots the 225 grn Barnes. with 60 grns reloader 15 ,3/4in groups @2730 fps.

The bull was quartering away from me, took out both lungs and broke the far shoulder right where the leg bone attaches to the shoulder.
Here's a pic of the recovered bullet
Weight 224.2 grns---not bad at all

Nice young meat bull. Congratulations. It's still early enough for some barbecued ribs to go with the tenderloins. Making me hungry.
