2000 lbs is a good load in my boat. Most of the time I'm not up in that range.
18' Shuman. 6 deg hull, 175 SJ

Im trying to cut weight but 140 gallons of gas is approx 1100lbs right? gas is the killer. Next year i will do a gas run.

I hope I am under that in weight most years. I have yet to carry 140 gallons. 135 was my best load of fuel to date. I will be taking me and two others this year for the first time. I never have taken more one other guy on a 10 hunt before. Hope my 17' Firefish with the 200 opti works for the extra guy.

I don't know how efficient the hull on the bulldog, but in my boat with a 200 opti, 140 gallons of gas is good for about 25 hours+ of running. Why in the heck do you need so much? I don't think there's anywhere in BC where you would need that much unless you're gonna run the Fraser from Vancouver to McBride???!?!

Ya i may have calculated a bit high, 10 gallons an hour would give me 14 hours of runnin, probably only runin 7 but id rather have to much then not enough!! my trip is a 5-6 hour trip one way so that is why i need the gas. empty my bulldog will run 5-7 at anywhere from 3800-4100 rpm on step. it will run on step at 17mph at about 3600 rpm but thats just me and another guy with our gear.

Gas is closer to 7lbs per gallon so should be around 980 lbs

Gasoline weighs 7.29 lb/imp.gal. (+/- depending on temperature) or 1.6 lb/liter, + weight of the containers.

'09 payload in my boat (everything was weighed) = 2700 lb. 20' Alicraft, 10 deg., 250 SJ/hi-skew imp, full UHMW bottom.
674 liters of gas (148 gal.), three people, gear, etc. for two weeks up river. Probably could have managed another 200 lb. but getting pretty close to max'd out performance wise and not too quick on the turns. Not a lot of fuel for a trip that long considering weight and distance.

i was rough figuring with the weight of water. didnt know there was that much of a difference between the weight of water and the weight of gas

I can haul around 2700 lbs and get on step easily. 23 footer with a 350 chev, 6 foot bottom. burn 11 gallons per hour tho!

for gas the rule to go by is 1/3 there 1/3 back 1/3 for whatever maybe.

Shouldn't be a problem. I run a 6 deg 19.5 foot with a 175 in the Fort Nelson area with 2000, up to 2500 lb. in some cases. Have been to Tuchodi with that type of load.

I've carried 190 gallons of gas, two guys and enough gear/food for eight days up the Thelon...Was in a 20 ft Nahanni, 350 chev with an AT pump, my partner had to jump on the bow in order to get up on step, a little too much weight me thinks!

Saw Doug Lam carry 14 pack horses on Kechica many years ago before he took out the 460's and went to HP350's.
It all depends on power, boat size and hull design.

I saw him with 12 horses and 3 Round Bails, but if I'm not mistaken he said he was burning 60 gallons an hour for fuel.

140 galons x 7.2 pounds per gallon=1008 pounds.
