Oh, almost forgot.......:

Spotted this guy alone as he was heading from a small piece of grass into his bedding area.

I dropped the pack, grabbed my spotter and made the 1.5km chase to catch him as he wandered.

Caught up with him at ~70yds, checked him over for age, taste and tenderness, and decided he'd do quite nicely in all departments......

After reading this thread I almost forget that it's not that easy to get a sheep. I feel like I should've headed out myself and bagged one too! But alas I remain at home, working like a dog, being whipped like one by my wife....and have no sheep other than the overpriced lamb chop I ate for dinner. My priorities......sigh.

In the last 11 years I've gone sheep hunting on 7 trips putting in a total of over 60 days. I hiked a lot of miles and went through a couple pairs of leather boots. Finally this year it all came together:

Thanks for the comments guys!

Last year I was getting dicouraged and on my sheep hunt I was so intense on "getting a ram" I forgot to have fun and enjoy myself. This year I told myself - just be relaxed, have fun & enjoy the mountains and if you are meant to get a ram it will happen......and it did!

Here is the knife that I made for my daughter, then borrowed for the hunt as well as a 140 Accubond on the far side of the hide after going through the spine. My first shot went through the ribs/lungs (exit can be seen in the photos) but after 11 years I was taking no chances and made a quick follow up shot that was ~4" higher than the first.

Bingo! One of the key points!! It makes it easy to stay in the mountains for 2 weeks through all sorts of weather, terrain etc when you're just having fun with no pressure to take a ram!! That is part of what sheep hunting is about!!

Great smile with a great ram!
