"Corksrew" injuries and deads to seals

Apparently, these mysterious deads has also happened to seals in Canada as well.

A prop would just cut multiple slices down one side of the seal. That looks to me like a fishermen got tired of losing his catch to the seal and just took a knife to it.

Seals are very fast, agile and extremely manoeuvrable in water, and for such an large spiral wound, which appears to have the same dept, to happen, had to be "helped" by the seal, who tried to escape what ever plunged its teeth into it, by attempting to spiral and propel away to safety very fasts ?

These wounds are not from a boat propellers, which would have made a mess of skind and flesh, but most likely created by a very sharp tooth, like from a large shark ?

I don'nt think I want to go swimming in those waters :)

I saw a documentary on this a while back. They scientists that were doing the studies surmised the wounds were caused by a type of cold water shark. They sounded pretty certain about this, but I don't think they ended up proving it. I forget the species but the Greenland shark seems to keep popping into my head.
