at the moment ive got a 3 power weaver on my 30-06 and a friend just gave me the tasco 3-9 x 32. i know tasco is not a great name but would it be better than the old weaver? opinions appreciated.

I hunted and killed quite a few critters with a Tasco world class scope on my 300 win mag! Moose and deer died just as well as with my Bushnell, and just as well as my buddies leupy and Zeiss too!! Moosin

x2 on the old Tasco 3x9's:wink: used them for many years, dumped a lot of game at some remarkable distance, and NEVER had a problem with factory defects,
dropped a rifle once on a slippery creek bed of rocks, smashed a 3x9 tasco, took it to the dealer, he looked at it, handed me a BRAND new one, said enjoy your next hunt!:)

I've got Leup's on everything now, but I have owned several Tasco's years back and never had any problems with them at all. In fact I still have one on a spare Rem. .308 (back-up/loaner rifle) and it's been great, no fog, holds zero year after year, no problems at all.

the new model Tascos can't handle the 30-06 recoil

The price for the scope is right - use it until it dies, then go get a Vortex for under 225.00

will the mounts from the weaver work for the tasco or do i need to get new rings?

99% of mounts are of the 1" tube variety - meaning that you're good to go. :-D

Good for put'n in tent pegs......... With all the advancements at very reasonable coin these days why would you cheep out on your scope! You would hate to miss your only opertunity of the year with inferior equiptment for the sake of save'n $100 bucks or so. Wise man once told me a rifle is only as good as the glass you put on top of it.
