Hi there,

I was looking today at Canadian Tire at some jackets. One caught my eye but it is completely polyester. I have used poly shirts before and they definitely retain body odor. Do poly jackets do the same? In fact, I have noticed that even after a wash the smell doesn't really come out (I guess I stink that bad!)

I have been using a cotton jacket I got a Marks Work Wearhouse (not a hunting jacket but it has vertical patterns on it). It is not waterproof at all and I was thinking it might be time to invest in something that is. Also, I not worried about sweating while hunting (I don't move quick enough), but I have definitely broken sweat hauling a buck out of the bush even when it was cold out.

Any advice would be most appreciated.

Cheers,
BB

Pony up the extra cash and get a jacket made of GorTex. It breaths and is waterproof and will probably help your situation. Do a search on this site, there's lots of good info.

Black Bird singing in the dead of night take these broken wings a learn to fly.
The Be attles from See attles.
Hey black bird .. make sure the coat is silent and doesn't whistle when the brush slides along it.
Depends on what kind of country you hunt and what time of season also.
Get one you can wear over a couple lighter shirts.
Not tight in the shoulders or armpits.
Also one that doesn't reflect the rays of light, like a shiny type.
The main thing is what the weather is like where you generally like to hunt.
Kamloops or say the Fraser Valley for instance .. dryer versus wetter.
If your a hiker or a road warrior also is important.
It will be hard to pass on your good old jacket if your like me eh?
Good luck in finding a nice hunting coat, jacket or thick shirt
