My friend deeks1989 got himself into a little trouble yesterday thank god I have that 1200M Warn on the front of my truck it saved his butt ,I don't use this winch much but when you need it its nice to have in cases like this..

He was stuck really bad in a ditch I had to put my truck in reverse and in four wheel drive as for blocking all tires up in order to get him out..

Good thing for the winch Wayne. None of our quads our winchless. Way too valuable.

I run a 12000 warn, has saved my ass as well as others a few times!
With the help of all the rope in camp, we winched the wifes elk right to the truck last year!
Handy as heck when ya need them!

as a winch owner myself and avid off roader i'll adda couple points everyone probably knows but i'll throw em out there anyway.snatchblocks double and can triple the line pull of a winch if one or two are used, i've used my old warn 8274 8000lb on my fj40 landcruiser to pull out 1 ton diesel trucks from the mud, used one snatchblock double line pull = 16000lb's did the trick. using a block greatly reduces winch speed but at least you'll get out. one other point is a winch is at it's strongest pull with the least amount of wraps of cable on the winch drum, so the more cable you can let out the stronger the pull. i'm sure lots of others know these tips also but i've seen in person that others do not, a winch can only be as good as how you know it. hope to have helped....or not.....neil

Rule #1..... When you get your truck stuck never take a picture of your truck.
This is the rule for the driver.

Rule #1 for passenger...... Always take picture when buddy gets his truck stuck!

just kidding! this is just fun stuff my group and i laugh about. When you friend gets stuck its " ha ha here is Daves ford stuck... if it was my dodge i would have got through!"

LOL I think deeks1989 was to worried about getting his truck out it was on a 45% angle nose down bottomed out ,but the old 12000M did its work once again.

We did the same thing with a moose in the truck. Lucky for us there was a couple trucks with us.....We didnt have to run 3k to get them!

I agree....but the sad reality is that, you could post a magazine worthy story of a 40" ram or 350 class elk, and the toilet paper, or underwear thread will still get more attention! :icon_frow

I have pulled about a thousand guys outa places THEY could have/shoud have avoided,,,:?
during my many , many years of traversing the bush, mountains and the muskegs,

funny thing is "MOST of THEM" had NO winch of their own !:-|

what have I learned ?,,,,

I would rather have a WENCH on my seat,,,

than a WINCH on my bumper,,,
