I was successful in an LEH moose draw in reg 7-26 this year, but have never been in that area before. I wouldn't ask anyone for a specific spot to hunt, cause I may or may not get a straight answer. But I would like to know if there are many deer in the region as whities and mulies are both open during our allowed season for moose. I am only two seasons into a lifetime of lonely Octobers for my wife, but I am ALL IN. Successful blacktail first year, and fortunate enough to harvest a moose last year. Might be beginners luck, but I'll take it. Thanks for your two bits.

There are deer there, but they are scattered into small pockets. The North Road side of 7-26 is better for deer and elk. There are some good mulies just above Tezzerone Lk, but they are scattered in the aspen stands. Cannot hurt to carry a tag for each as you just never know and your mulie tag does not go to waste as you can use it to hunt BT's.

Cheers

Thanx guys. I have been looking at the back road map book for this region, but it doesn't give a real taste for the land. Advice from those more experienced is one of the most valuable tools of all.

google earth might help you a little...depending on the detail for that area....if you are lucky enough to get a high detail map of the area you are after...i find it really helps

According to my copy of the BC hunter stats for 7-26:
For Mulies:
2008: 0 bucks, 0 does, 46 hunters
2007 12, 0, 43 ( a very good year)
2006: 6, 0, 55

For whitetails:
2008: 0 bucks, 0 does, 22 hunters
2007: 0, 0, 45
2006: 6, 6, 44 (an unusually productive year)

For whatever that's worth.
