hi I'm having a little trouble with my bow. I trying to tune it but im haveing grief getting it perfectly true. Do i want to paper tune it with a bare shaft or with fletching on. I have also been shooting the bare shafts at 25 yards and it seems prety true but just not perfect. I am also looking to upgrade my release and am wondering what the best release is to get.

Paper tune with fletching. Gives a true-er indication.

Releases? Too many to name just one. Besides, it's a matter of personal preference anyway.

For example, I prefer Jim Fletcher releases. I've got a Fletchunter Shorty, a Flathead, a Fletch Hunter, and two Fletch Hooks. The Fletch Hook is my favorite for both target and hunting.

paper tune with fletching on to get starting point .... walkback tune to get better center shot ... Tiller tune to get best overall groups ... shoot through paper again to check its all good

Tiller is the tension of the bow spread out between the limbs .... Most people set up at equal tiller and leave it ...

http://www.archersadvantage.com/TipSheets/TillerTuning.htm

check this out ...explains it a bit better than I can and more relevent to the average archer as opposed to the top 1%

Google tiller tuning .... there is alot of info out there ... Elite Archery Forums have a couple of threads going on the subject .....

You can see where the Tiller measurement is taken. Tiller measurement is done on both limbs - and as BZM said, it is usually set at 'even' for a starting point.

Adjustments are made by turning the limb bolts - just don't turn the limb bolts too much. You do not want to have them come loose!

A good starting point is to max out the bolts and begin by backing them off a turn to get the proper measurement(s).
