Is it still possible to get to Poison Mountain by going up the Yalakom FSR? I was there BC day 2008 and a section on the trail was getting eroded pretty bad by the creek.

Do you know if the China head is open?

not sure on that one ...but wouldnt be surprized if they have it closed as well. forestry wouldnt want people ventureing through that side not knowing the yalakom rd is closed.

China Head is close permanently, the road has been filled in. It's in a vehicle closure area.

Hey Ohno, I was conducting a Road inspection on the china head last thursday and it was not closed. But as French said I would not doubt that the road is possibly closed at the moment to prevent anyone to go back there and get trapped infront of any fire. Otherwise the road is in pretty good shape for a quad. At the davie jones creek crossing the creek has eroded a portion of the road and normal raveling of material form the cutslope onto the road. From that West Pavillion side, there is considerable water erosion exposing boulders and cobbles making it a little rough ride. Otherwise no wildlife was seen but just cattle.

Pemberton is full of smoke this AM. I haven't heard of any fires in Pemberton (other than the one that was put out quick the other day) so I'm guessing it's this one producing all the smoke...LOTS of smoke!

Yep, you be right Gate...

The province is experiencing outflow winds (winds from the Interior to the Ocean) as compared to the norm Ocean to the inland...

Looking at some weather forecasts it should turn around pretty soon.....

Hang a steak on your clothesline and you will have jerky in a few days :-D

Just got word from the coastal fire center that there's a few spot fires in the Pemberton meadows and Soo valley (0.1 hectares or less) which is probably contributing to the thick smoke we're experiencing here.
Can't even see Whistler/Blackcomb mountains and our office is right at the bottom of them!
