I am looking for something like a wall tent but what are some good alternatives that are cheaper and still reliable than a wall tent. has anyone tried one of those Costco sheds as a tent. Or is it too dangerous to have a fireplace in.
Thanks

No problem I have a friend that uses a 12' x 20' shed and a heavy gauge 45 gal drum for a stove. He puts the stove near the front entrance , and the stove pipe goes through a piece of plywood bolted to the roof trusses. Works great.

As requested, cheaper and reliable. Home made when times were tougher!!

See the video links below. I'm thinking about trying something similar.... once I find a place with lots of deer around! It tends to rain alot in my neck of the woods so I would throw a tarp over it I think.

Any cabins for rent in the area that you want to try?
Our group was looking at the same idea until a lake nearby had a cabin for rent on it.

Heres what I use, sets up in 1-2 minutes, is one piece, fits in a large hockey bag!
Sleeps 3 comfortably with a wood stove, no issues for about 6 years now!
Google "pop up greenhouses"

Have use the Costco garage for a number of years now backed up the wall tent. Used the wall tent for sleeping and the Costco tent for cooking and living. Used two large overlapping tarps to cover both. The wood stove was in the wall tent to keep it dry. Used the original walls and end to the Costco tent. Stayed dry and pretty air tight. The pipes are pretty heavy to pack around. We left them up north a couple of times to save traveling weight. Setting both up takes about two hours. Works great though. If the roof is roped properly, it will stand a heavy early dump of snow just fine.

We use the "Cosco" tent as well. For a number of years. Drop the camper down, put tent around camper and tarp over both. Wood stove in the end. Works great.
If you go this way make sure you do the tarp thing with enough tarp to bunch it at the base of the walls and chuck down some logs to hold it down... Keeps out wind.

place aint burned down in something like 5 years

Here are a couple pics of my cabelas bighorn 2 tent. I have used this tent hard winter/summer/fall and its great. I have a large wood stove and get it red hot with no problems. I can set it up by myslef in 15mins. (ive timed it out many times. It is probably easier to set it up by yourself.)

This spring 4 of us spent 5 long wet days in it. some condinsation built up but the wood stove roaring hard with all the windows open fixed that in about an hour.

We have bought a shade house to use as a cook shack for our next trip. before we used the vestibule to cook under when it was raining.

I have 9 feet of stove pipe (held together with a couple small self tapping screws) with no spark arrester. We have used all sorts of wood with no problems of sparks hitting the roof.

This has probable been the best investment. shower shitter house. we use a zodi shower pump ($23 at cabelas) heat up a large pot of water and shower away.
