I ran across some elk, one of which was still wearing his antlers! Wouldn't you know, for once I had my camera with me too - so I can share the pic's with ya'll. Enjoy.

We all know the feeling of that hard to get to itch:

A more dignified pose of the same elk:

His buddy seems to have already lost his antlers... hrmmm, I know where to do some shed hunting, methinks...

I saw one lousy hen all day. (or, to be honest, I slept in, had a big breakfast, played with my new puppy half the day, and then got out for about 4 hours this evening..).

I spotted the hen, and figured I was in the money. But after looking around for 10 minutes with the glass I concluded she was all by herself. Then I figured I'd just follow her back to her boyfriend, and then I'd be in the money. So, she waddles off, and I followed her for better part of a mile before she lost me. Oh well, just gives me an excuse to do it again tomorrow. :)

Before now, I thought, but obviously nobody told this guy he was overdue to loose his headgear... :)

We found the first whitetail shed of the season back in early January....

deer and moose loose their antlers before elk do...elk carry thiers alot later usually...but i have also heard reports of the odd buck carry horn still while others are just starting to grow...looks like it was a good winter for them...

This year's been weird all over. THe rutt started late most places, and moose and deer were seen with antlers later than normal in lots of places.

Don't know what happened -but something sure buggered the seasons up. I was practically t-shirt hunting for moose if you can beleive it during the day.

Strange indeed. Up here we had warm weather and a mild winter. Whereas in Tennessee, where it usually is T-Shirt hunting weather in December they had snow and cold in November, not rut activity to speak of.
