Friend had a weekend set aside for fishing, brother bailed, meant room for me in the truck (and a pontoon boat). Picked up a 4 piece rod & reel at WSS on way out (figure 4 piece useful for hiking in the future - either for fishing or as hiking pole depending on how things would turn out). Learned to check direction that reel is wound before leaving store...

Clear cuts left the forestry camp sites rather dusty but did have easily accessible fire wood. After reminding my friend to bring his license I left mine at home... worked out well as provided a reason to go into Merritt to print another copy and found some 45/70 brass while there. Came in to Merritt again to watch the WC final... (no penalty on Iniesta for v. Bommel take down? Penalty on v. Wiel when no contact with Iniesta? no corner kick? no off side call? okay am almost over it, and perhaps De Jong should have received a red - frustrating as it seemed ref tried to make up for one bad call with another bad call...).

Third or forth attempt at casting caught a fish when casting back... using the same technique I also caught pontoon boat webbing. Little unsure about there being an iPad at the campfire but guess times change. Regardless, am now "hooked" on fly fishing.

Some pics of difficult to identify fish species.

You know its time to lose weight when you can nearly sink a pontoon boat

That 3rd pic down of the deer under the tree got me going... thats where you have to look for them when hunting in the middle of the day...nestled at the base of trees

Thanks for the pics.

Great shot of the WT.

And the one good thing about the clear-cut campsite is the wind blows the bugs away! :D

Will ask on Mon or Tue, making an attempt at another range trip. This was with another fellow, am working on him to get his PAL (likely pull him into the course I have to teach as part of instructor licensing).

Elkhart (easy to catch small trout, loons offered better battle) and island lake (only caught a lilly or something - forgot to scrub hands on lake bottom before handling fly so sunblock etc may not have helped). Looked around Boot lake too but didnt fish it. Is the real question where I saw the moose :) (GPS coordinates is in the metadata if camera acquired the signal quick enough).

Seeing how you're in Merritt, what pub has better food than the one next to the Powder Keg should we be out that way again?
