Wondering if any of you experienced bow hunters can suggest a good range finder model?
Thank you.

I'm looking hard at the Chuck Adams model from Bushnell.

If you want one that's just for archery it seems to fill all the requirements.

Try not to get one that has a magnification power greater than 5x or 6x. Any higher and it's just too hard to acquire the target quickly, plus larger magnification powers are not needed for archery.

It's probably not what you had in mind, but I ordered one of these the other day. It hasn't arrived yet but it seemed like a pretty simple approach.... and I'm fond of simple... cuz it fits my intelligence level.

I have the bushnell legend its a sweet little unit have a bow and rifle setting to see what angle u are so u know how much shorter u need to aim in the stand for bow hunting and tells u how much of a bullet drop u have weither ur guns sighted in at 100,150,200 or 300 yards and its between 250 and 300 dollars

Thanks Jeremy, yes I was more inclined with the Legend too for bowhunting and rifle. I don't think I need to go up to the elite model I think the legend would be fine. Any negativity on the Legend?

To Bow Wlaker. I have the Chuck Adams Rangefinder and do not like it. Any fog at all and it is useless, Low light it is terrible. Definetley would not recomend it. Looking to sell my Chuck Adams and my Legend to upgrade. Oh by the way, anyone want to buy a couple of rangefinders. 300 bucks for both!

The Legend I would say is definetely better, but it does not have the arc on it wich I wanted so I bought the Chuck Adams one instead. Still up for sale. Anyone?

I have a Bushnell Elite 1500 with ARC ...rifle and Bow mode ... awesome .. very happy with it ... have used it for more than just hunting as it has 1000 plus yards of effective range for most anything ... the specs say only 500 yards for a deer but I got one last year at better than 800 with the laser

Thanks for the heads-up!

I definitely want one with the Angle Range Compensation in it and one that is not more than 6x magnification. I've got a Nikon right now - it has 8x magnification. While it gives a nice clear picture it is a bit harder to acquire a target quickly.

hmm, i always wonder about this question, from a bowhunters point of view, why need a rangefinder?
the maximum distance you should shoot is what you are comfortable with, so up to 50 yards, i personally shoot up to 30 yards, and have had maybe one or two just past that so i never have had a need for a rangefinder in the past 17 yrs, if i think it is to far, chances are good it is, so up to 30 yards look out animal.

An error in yardage judgment of only 3 - 5 yard, when shooting at a deer that is 40 yards away, can mean a miss or worse yet, a wound instead of a kill.

Correct yardage when using archery tackle is critical. Nobody that I know of - or have heard of - can judge yardage to within a yard or two without the aid of a rangefinder.

Cause you gotta have something to do when you are sitting there at first light with a sharp stick and a string, hoping to arrow an elk......PLUS the COOL factor of having one:mrgreen::mrgreen:

I have used mine lots at first light double checking what my GUESS for the distance is to stumps etc, as compared to actuals.....Flat light really screws up your guesses...

I use the Leica 1200 as well.

The new CRF 1200 is 30% smaller (4.5" x 2.3" x 1.3") and lighter (7.76 oz.) than the LRF 1200, but boasts the same maximum ranging distance and interior LED display. The 24mm objective lens delivers superior image quality and brightness, even with bad lighting. The waterproof body is made of die-cast, aircraft-grade aluminum that's been lacquered for a soft feel. 7X magnification. Runs on one CR2 lithium battery, included.

Should set you back $550-800 depending on where you shop.

Do not buy the bushnell Elite 1500 mine just crapped out after 16 months. Called bushell exsplained that I was headed out on a hunting trip in 30 days could they get it back to me in that time if I couriered it to them. Got a flat NO didn't seem to care said they were backed up and I was lucky if I got it back in 6 weeks.
Once again Bushnell screws up on customer service and warrenty I will not ever buy a Bushnell product again.

Bushnell warranty/service sucks.
I have a yardage pro, about 5 years old. The 'finish' on the objective and optical lens has worn off over the years (only ever used a proper lens pen) so I enquired about getting the glass replaced. I wanted to give it to my brother.
They said they werent sure they could do that for me and that I would likely be offered a new comparable unit for $200 or so ???
Yeah ok. Not.
