When looking into high end binos (swarovski, zeiss, leica), what are the usual suspects for good prices? I have been to BinocularsCanada and Eagle optics. Any other suggestions?

I have been told (via dealers) that Zeiss and Swaro employ price fixing so finding a large discrepency between published prices isn't likely.

They have a pretty good markup on the high-end glass, so if you speak with the retailer (someone in charge) maybe you can get a deal that is not published on their website...

Or don't even hesitate to buy used Swaro/Zeiss/Leica as the warranties are transferrable.

Cameraland is a good way to go.

You can check out their "demo" stuff, you'll save hundreds.

I just got the new EL Swarovisions. Mint shape:-D

I would call Italian Sports and Reliable and ask if they can meet Cameraland's prices on new stock, you never know. I have Zeiss and Leica and have used Swaros, prefer Leica, but, all three are fine glass.

What are you looking for and are you willing to buy "used" as I sometimes know where a "like new" used unit is?

ebay is usually the cheapest. I got mine there in great shape for less than half of new. Still warrentied.

Check out B&H Photo and Video in NY. I have used them a couple of times and they were great to deal with

Keep your eye on Camofire.com. They have been having some good deals on Swaro scopes and I heard they may be getting binos too.

Make a friend who manages a sporting good store and get a deal.
I saved $400 on my ELs and $500 on my spotter & eye piece
They can give you deals but they cant advertise below the retail $ which is set by the manufacturer.

Camerland gets my vote. Great deals on all sorts of high-end glass. Watch for some "demos" and you can get a wicked good price on brand new products - save being handled by a few looky-loos.

If you have the time, and the willingness to keep up on prices, my vote is for e-bay, I picked up a pair of victory 10x42 T FL lotutech new in the box delivered to my door for 1200.00! Less than half the price.
For some new, and plenty used 24hourcampfire clasifieds tends to have some nice optics come up. Just surf around and be prepared to pull the trigger at a good deal when it pops up.

What is the difference between the Leica 10x42 Geovid HD and the Leica 10x42 Geovid? I have not been able to figure out what the HD stands for. Anybody know what it means?

High Definition ;)

OK, so what does that mean as far as the bino's go? Do they have some sort of difference in the glass or coating? Are they somehow nicer to look through?

Yep. Heard the same thing. The manufacturers say they can't charge less than a certain amount....they can charge more if they want but not less.
