Who would like to share what their hunting trips planned for september are?

Don't get your panties in a bunch, I'm not looking for the GPS coordinates to your honey spot. Just share the region or MU and what species your after. Is it a trophy hunt? Is it a meat hunt? Is it the first time your going after a particular species? Just share a story.

But only for september hunts. If this thread goes well I'll start another one for october and then november, at a later date.

I'll be heading to princeton for mulies during the third weekend in sept, and then to savona for mulies the weekend after that.

My plans for Sept are to get my 11 year old daughter her first animal. In Reg 8 where we go, they just extended youth season for the entire month for any buck. The real hunting for Dad starts in Oct!!

Elk late september. 6pts and doesnt need to be a trophy but always nice if it is ?
Blacktails before that, I eat that tag all the time (especially if there is elk in the freezer) so no I wont punch a tag unless its respectable or a character/unique buck with the rifle (standards go down with a bow though)

First week in September bow hunt. Probably mulies, but not picky. Not sure where yet, but looking into some suggestions from folks on HBC around Princeton or Merritt.

I hear ya steeleco. My big trips are in Oct as well. I think sept is a primer for me. I wondered if others were like that or if they did alot of hunting in sept. Thats why I only wanted this thread to be for sept.

Good luck on your hunt with your daughter.

Going to try to get up to hunt elk with Bartell in September. Not for sure yet. October I'll head north for moose and November hunt deer around home.

Lots to do around the house/truck/barn this year so September may also just see me doing a bit of wandering around home up high.

most likely a family youth/bow deer hunt and a little pepperoni bear hunt.We started getting my cousins involved its awesome and the wife busts out her ninja weapons and we look for some velvet bucks
but like everyone else its October fest for the bulk of it, And if all else fails a few whitey does to keep the freezer full and the meat sweats a rolling.

Haven't decided which region yet, I have several areas in region 3, 4, 5, and 8 that I enjoy bowhunting. I always go bowhunting during the first week of sept. I usually go alone for the first 5-6 days, and then my wife comes along. I book 2 weeks holiday and try to cram bowhunting, flyfishing, hiking, mountian bike riding, and exploring into this small window of opportunity. Starting next year, I'll be retired, and able to poke around most of the fall, camping, hunting, fishing etc. as long, and as much as I like! Last year, the fires around Kamloops and east, chased me away from a couple of my favourite spots, so I went over to region 4 with my wife, went up high (6000ft.+), had a great time, and, as I earlier posted, bagged a nice mulie with my bow, popped some blue grouse, went for some great walks, and just unwound....can't get much better than that, although there were no small lakes to flyfish in the area.

Grouse opening reg. 8 and maybe a bear if he's a shooter and of course will have a mule tag also but not expecting to see any big bucks that early in the season.
However I did see a shooter still in velvet in our area in June, so you never know.
Hopefully the weather stays nice, the fishing is hot and the beer is cold.

Sept 10th things open up for me.

I walked the ridge I'm going to hunt yesterday.

Seems to be a perfect spot, at least going by what I've learned so far.

Small swamp on one side, cut-block on the other leading down to an aspen stand, then down to a large swamp below that.

Hunting deer, and if a 2-point moose wanders by....

Focussing on getting my first deer this year. Scouting my local hills already {pemby } , tuning my rifle and breaking in my gear. Also rehearsing my argument for why I'm not spending my fall weekends with the mrs. Can't wait to trade in the dozen or so grouse I usually get for one respectable buck. Anticipation is killing me.
