We hiked the heathers trail in EC manning during the July 1st long weekend...beautiful country, too bad the lake was frozen over.

Nice pics, I came threw manning on June 29 and seen a bull moose just west of the lodge trotting up the creek. First one I have seen in the park. And first moose I have seen there, Seen a few wolves a couple of years ago.

Manning is full of wildlife...In the four days that we were there, I saw 2 four point bucks and lots of does, but the highlight of the trip for me was a big lynx from less than 10 meters, i am still kicking myself for not having the camera handy at the time. We didn't see any moose, but this trail is known for having good moose populations around it.

Nice pictures! Me and a couple friends want to do this hike later in the summer once all the wild flowers are blooming(at least that's when they're supposed to be). I've never done more then a one night hike so it should be pretty cool. Do you have any tips for this hike shekarchi? I'm really looking forward to it. I think I might bring the fishing rod along too.

The Heather trail is great. If you're looking for a good one up in the sub-alpine in Manning you can park at Cayuse Flats then hike up to Nicomen Lake. From Nicomen you can get up to the ridge and continue on past The Brothers and along the Heather trail to the sub-alpine parking lots. I think it's about 42km or so and makes a fun two day hike. Not too sure about the fishing at Nicomen though.

I think that's what me and my buddies were planning on doing! It seems like it should be really cool. I think we might do 2 nights so we can not have to rush too much. From what I've read about it the alpine meadows look pretty amazing when they're covered in all the wild flowers and everything.

I hiked to the first brother last year, to see to work site from across the valley (whipsaw/garrison). it was torture knowing both these areas are closed to hunting. but it was still awsome!

That's good to know that there's lots of animals. The last overnight hike I went on we didn't see one animal until we were almost finished. It was a tiny little bird... It was pretty pathetic but you can only hope for better luck the next time I guess!

@Kid Hunter

this is one of the best hikes you can do, this place is amazing. keep your eyes open and you should see lots of wildlife. definitely take the fishing rod, Nicomen lake is supposed to have great fishing. take big water bottles, after the second camp ground (kicking horse) there is barely any water until Nicomen lake. If you want to see some wildlife take a look around the meadows by the second camp ground, that place was full of deer signs.

have fun and post pics after
