So I need to buy some mid-priced binoculars and after reading lots of reviews and checking prices I've pretty much narrowed my choice down between the leupold pinnacles, the vortex furys, and a refurbished pair of nikon monarchs that are $200 U.S. OR I could bite the bullet, save up my dimes and snag the vortex vipers? Is the picture difference worth the doubled price tag over the furys? Also, I've heard vortex and leupold have excellent warranties, but i'm not so sure about nikon.

I assisted one of the staffers at Italian Sports here in Vancity with a customer looking for a bino. last year and was VERY impressed with the Vortex line I checked out. I have used a number of different binos over 45+ years and to make my living as well as for recreation and I own/use both Zeiss (West German) and Leica, my favourites, so, I have some experience to judge by.

Minox is another good brand, if, you cannot afford a Leica...with BC taxes, many cannot, sad to say!
