Im a new hunter and want to get myself started with some snowshoe hare. its the first season to open and want to get my feet wet. is there anywhere around kamloops that i would have some luck looking for them. i know it is easier once there is snow, but im up for the challenge.

Used to have fun with bunnys when I was a kid. We'd head out about Nov 9 every yr around the PiG with pockets full of 22's. Usually no snow then and just like hunting bleach bottles in the willows. Poor little buggers didn't have much of a chance, but as a kid it was the greatest. Fed em all to my dogs. Stewed em up and stripped the meat, they loved em. Not sure around loops tho. They like pine plantations in the winter and eat the bark when food is scarce. Also wet thicket areas can be pretty good but they usually give you the slip way before you see them.

Get yourself a doggy and you're all set.

Hay dougster, I am new to hunting (and BC) by the time I get the CORE and BC hunter number the only thing open will be hares. I would really like to get my feet wet this winter if possible. I don't expect to get the paperwork is finished until after the new year but if you are looking for someone to help you shoot some hares, I'm game. In Van but could make it to Kamloops on a weekend with some planning.
