No they didn't buy it, problem for me was it was so big I had nowhere to hang it in my house...

I know some of the fellows that work for WSS so I just asked if they wanted it on their wall.

After I sent in a couple pics the response was yes we'll hang it and we have the perfect spot for a big bear rug like that...

Noah thanks for posting the link saves me having to look for it...

That's great. My uncle many years ago shot a massive Elk. He was asked about donated it to the Penticton museum. It is up in the centre of the wall among many fine mounts, He never regreted it.

That is a nice grizz rug alright but why don't you have it on your wall at home or on the floor ???.

I have a 3 story 3000 sq ft home there is not a single wall in it that is big enough for it and I have a 10 month old dog and a 3 year old son so will not put it on the floor.

Basically I had no choice but to find a wall somewhere that was big enough for it... :D

Great bear, did you have it officially scored, and if so, what did it measure?

Camp Cook
07-03-2010, 08:05 AM
No never made it to the scorer tried hard for a couple of weeks to meet with him but then it just got put into a box.

I'm taking the skull into WSS in the next week or two it will be in the glass display case near the bear rug maybe lucky enough to get someone to score it there...

I remember that awesome bear a real big fella but heh..maybe get that cheap long couch from ikea and drape it over that...it would kill me to have such a trophy hanging anywhere else.

You don't find 'em much bigger than that, especially interior bears.

I know what you mean about no room. I have 2 up at my house, and my 2 others went to my dads, and to a wilderness lodge my relates own.

I saw a thread for a grizzly taken from the same area as mine earlier this year that was over 9' it was definitely bigger than mine and very possibly the biggest ever shot in that area.

Make sure you got some paperwork saying it is and always will be your bear, that it is only on loan to them for display purposes. Friend had a sheep head he loaned to a store where his friend worked to display. He needed a place to put them when he moved after a diovorce. In the meantime his friend left the store and went elsewhere for work. He went to the store to get his head one day the store manager told him that they had sent the head to another store and was under the impression that the owner had donated them. It ended in a pissing match and the head had disappeared. None of the other stores had the head. He could produce taxidermy receipts and pictures from the kill and the gov't had records from the compulsary inspection, but they had no head there and of course nobody knew where it went.

Your bear makes the wall look small!!!

I personally like the do not touch sign...

"A fed bear is a Dead Bear...

DO NOT TOUCH!"

Very nice bear... thanks for sharing it with everyone!!!

I bet it looks great, I'll be seeing it soon enough, that said I can't understand why you harvested it if you can't enjoy it at your own residence. Take out a shelving unit or something, put it sideways, but get the darn thing at home so you can appreciate it more yourself. Sounds like a dandy of a bear.

David did you get the your DVD I dropped it off last week?

My wife wanted to head down to Langley today so here is a pic of the rug on the wall.

The wall is 12' wide X 14' or 16' high...

Camp Cook that looks like a good bear. Congrats to you.

What I would worry about if the public can access it like you standing beside it, some clown is likely to steal a claw or 2. Even my own mounts downstairs, people cannot resist to feel the fur, check out the feathers, etc. etc. I don't want to think about what the reachable portions may look like in a few years.
But what a cool display, good others can appreciate it.

I'd be taking it back home if it were mine.

My house is up for sale right now if/when we sell/move it will be going with us so it is not a lifer on that wall, I appreciate your thoughts though.

CC,

Got the DVD. Seriously tho, have them raise it a couple feet. I see it would be off the paneling on the top but Curly Top has a good point.
