Anyone hiked the trails in this area? Thinking I might head out this weekend and try the Grizzly Den or Raven Lake trails - give the legs a tune up and check another one off the ''places to see'' list.

Any info on trail conditions or good areas to check out would be appreciated.

Cheers

one of my favorite day hikes. they did a lot of work on the trail the last few years. super popular with UNBC students. unfortunately this means tons of cairns, smile faces, and peaces signs on the peak. other then that it's quite pristine.

I useally break to the right and climb Suzie first once I hit the meadows, then cross over to the peak above the lake, and work my way down the NE ridge back to the cabin.

keep your head about you, have bumped into no less then 8 LARGE g-bears while exploring in there. they're usually digging up the abundant gophers in the meadows. an X-girly of mine took a fantastic pic from the cabin window of a big boar drinking water right next to the stairsm one morning.

have fun, and sign the book!

here's a pick coming across from Suzie, seen quite a few large furry things in the green strip mid-photo. bring your best glass. once you get to raven peak you have an outstanding view of Tumuch ridge and the valley between the two. good chance to see more large furry things...

It's a park between pg and Mcbride. Looks nice, can you hunt there?

can you bring a defensive gun on this hike? I see you posing with a funny shaped "stick" in one of your photos....

The wife wants to take the inlaws hiking up there... and as much as I'd like it....

Well anyhow... guns yes or no?

One of my close to town tune up hikes for sheep hunting. We have done the hike many many times and have never packed a firearm. Kids can do that hike so take the in laws and have a good hike.

Yup! Take the defender! Worked in all the mountains surrounding this area. Lots of Grizz and Blackies up there. Torch that is the other direction from the Bowron that I took you on. You head south instead of north. We will have to head up there and camp at Tumuch Lake, or at the Haggen Creek Rec site! Awesome ATVing up there too, not around the hiking trails, but the surrounding areas. I usually head up there for a blackie in the spring. Moosin
