Does anyone know what the access is like into Kelsell lake in 6-28 off the Haines hwy ??? Could a 1 ton crew cab long box get in there without trashing the vehicle???

looks like a great place to camp....:-D we have an inflatable Achilles and a 12 foot aluminum that fits over the canopy...

Thank you

Definitely a 4 wheel drive road. Lots of ruts and a few mud holes before the lake. Road is relatively short (3 or 4 K). Expect to see traffic in and out daily and the possibility of other campers in the area as well as first nations from Haines Junction hunting there. Your truck will probably make it all the way if it is 4 wheel drive.

I didn't drive in there, but you can see the lake from the hwy and it's above timberline. The area is very scenic and I wouldn't imagine it hard to get in there as long as you have 4x4.

Get someone with a Dodge to drive in first and knock off some of the brush along the sides because the Dodge is wider and this will save the sides of your truck..............

We drove in, but it was about 12 years ago. And we were in a dodge pickup. We had a camper on it and pulled a utility trailer.
