I think Gates may be mature to going backwards this year??....those bases are gnarly and he has a wide muzzle , old look to his face , heavy weight to the tips...shall see...( there's a WELL used trail near his parts right now...:cool:

ProGuide hangs Gatehouse's Disco Ball from a tree and that attracts all the aging boon[m]ers. Notice the slight 'fro on the old buck?

Heard tell there's a bunch of dedicated guys going up this year for white sheep. Wonder if there's a higher 'utilization' of the draws than normal this year? Great looking country up there and you should have a good time irregardless.

Andy , whats your guess in inches for the top photo??...I'm going close to 150....sounds big but check out the front fork,its a HUGE break! now if he's dead even ( wich may be the case)he's going to be 'up there'....I'm lookin at my 151 buck and at the same angle away they look the same...but the photo buck is a bit narrow..BUT he has 5x5..hmm....I'm still going 150 ish..I think theres a chance he's not 'peaked' yet to...doesnt seem to have the weight of a senior yet...

Man if those back forks are closer to matching those front forks this year I think he's gonna be something else...

Regardless I havent seen a buck look so good in such a chitty picture.

He looks a lot wider walking to the camera than he does away from it thats the only thing I'm not sure about. He has some serious height going for him (and those coastals have pretty big ears but you wouldnt think it from the pic)
I say he'll go out another 1/2" - 1" in width tops and climb the same, most of his gains will come via back forks and he'll for sure get some more mass to him.
Thinking positive, he's still progressing and not regressing I say he's 150 +/- 2" :biggrin: but the tape never lies so its your duty to put one on him and either way he'll look pretty suave coming down in a pack :cool:

No doubt if he had matching backs !...Ive seen a couple bucks from old timers here around 1970's that had the deep back forks , one buck went 169" :shock:

Its damned tough to get a b tail with those mature deep back breaks..especially around here...like the 'Bartel Buck ' most the BIG ones seem to be consistent with the HUGE fronts,dink backs.. Ive seen a few dead ones with average 9" fronts on em...match that up with some sweat 6" plus backs and the #1 has some contenders!..i'm certain the bartel buck was a 160+ in his prime without a doubt...just gotta get that one special buck in PRRRIME TIIIME.....gotta be this year..:?
I'm putting 126 to 130" on Gates buck last fall...I thinks its an old geezer though...he's thick to the tips last yr , not overly big front breaks or even but a smoker buck the same!....Nov is sooo far away:roll:..I have 9 cams now...this fall should be a great yr for live pics if no dead ones!!!:cool:
