Well, I got to work yesterday, and went for a walk around the Station. This guy damn near frightened the crap out of me. I didn't notice him by the edge of the treeas untill I was about 20 ft away from him. His name is Brutus and he has been visiting our remote Station here every summer since 2000. He was rumored to have been hit by a truck last winter, so I really wasn't expecting to see him

What a huge beast! I like the way you name the animals you know of. My family and I are just finishing off "Frank" from last summer. I'm beginning to plan a trip to come back up for another moose.

It would suck to have a tail that short.

Ya know, for as big as he is (appears) it seems that his horns are a bit on the smallish side.

Of course it could be that I am just not familiar with bison and/or, that his head is so big as to make the horns just look smallish.

Cool looking animal none the less. Thanks for the update.

Not to hijack, but here is another big buffalo from up below the Liard river bridge, from two years ago. My truck is an f-150 and we are NOT pulled over, so we are about 8-10 feet from this guy. His horns look small but they were broke off the size of popcans, no joke.

I got a comment from a guy that raises Bison, and he figures that Brutus is between 20-24yrs old.

I would imagine they would age a bit faster being wild than farm fed.
