Elk in 2-05...zone A... info?

Hi All-Usually don't ask but my buddies put us in for a draw for Elk in Sechelt and we got pulled for two tags in Zone A, October 10th-20th for Bulls.....Any insight into this area would be appreciated! Yes, we will be doing the usual scouting over the summer and early fall, but it is always nice to get the "little extra" help....ThanksMike

Mike are you telling me that you both got the only 2 draws for Zone A...the only draws on the coast for rifle.......each draw at over 100 to 1 odds and you guys got both of them? Holy Crap. We put in for the three of us and got two draws out of the deal!! Of course I am still on my losing as i will be the camera man since my two buddies got drawn!

Too bad Sechelt just passed a bylaw to BAN ALL HUNTING within the District.
I think there will be a few disappointed leh holders in zone 2-05B.
Kidchevy, those elk look real familiar, they have all been here , i'm less than a km from you.

Yeah I cant believe they passed that. The locals have bitched and complained about the damage the elk cause for the last 10 years. Now its gonna get worse. Idiots.

How is the native population reacting to that bylaw? I had a zone B tag last year and I heard very different opinions regarding the elk hunting in Sechelt between the district offices and the band offices.

Did the local club get to speak to it ?

Wow, your lucky #@$%@#, the first thing I would do is take the pen that was used to Fill out the LEH form and put it in a safety deposit box for luck next year.

Sorry Wayne, not hung over, just way to busy working and being the executor to my Aunt's estate on the Island..... no time for anything but these two things!!! (although a congradulation party might be in order...:wink:)

So, the scouting has gone fairly well.... some critters spotted and watched......:mrgreen:

Never really thought about how thick the bush was in the area and only a few cut blocks.......:-D

So a little update.......:wink:

Beginning of the long weekend (saturday afternoon) and a ferry ride later the boys decide on where to set up camp.....

Those of you that live on the coast remember what a windy, pissing down rain type of day it was....

Talked to the boys on Sunday to hear that they have seen a couple of rag horns and way to many bikers and quads roaring around! Seem the woods came alive with everything BUT elk.....:icon_frow....

Monday did some calling and had a three point (IIRC) come right in.... I mean right in!!! Hopefully their pics turn out as the caller had the elk within arms reach as it tried to figure out where the call was coming from...

Tuesday night at 7:00 pm I get a call saying the first one hit the ground 20 minutes earlier...... the excitement was unreal as i couldn't understand them and what they were saying outside of the fact that they have a very nice bull down.....:mrgreen:

Thanks to all those that helped along the way.... I will get some pics posted next after they get back and settled in...... Hopefully between now and then they can fill the other LEH!!
