5-01 moose

Hey everybody i just got lucky on my first leh and drew a moose in area 5-01 from sep10 to sep 30 and i was wondering what was my chance of success and if there is any particular area i should go to. Thanx for input from all
Any input is greatly appreciated since this is going to be my first moose hunt

congratulations on your first successful leh moose hunt. you will be hunting in the sheridan and canim lake area and the moose are plentyful. i was successful as well for area 5-01 oct 1-oct-14 for a group draw(any 2 bulls). this is the prime time draw as they should be full rut and quite stupid, before and after that time you have to find where they are. i would suggest that if possible you spend some time in the area before your draw starts and scout the terrain find the sign and locate them before you go in(saves alot of time). I am from kamloops and have spent alot of time in the area with successful draws in the past easy for me as i'am only 2 hours away from there house.have fun and great luck on your first moose hunt.WOW I'AM STILL REALING FROM THE DRAW.

look in the swamps, early light and last light. there has been LOTS of new clear cuts in the sheridan lake area in the last 5 years or so.

Canim Lake-Bridge Lake
Access from Highway 97 from 70 Mile via the Green Lake road; Highway 24 through Lone Butte; the Eightythree road and, 100 Mile House, the Canim Lake system of roads.
Good mule deer in the south-east section of MU 5-1 and fair MOOSE and deer throughout the rest of MU 5-1
Jelly MU 5-1 ... Moose and deer ..

I've won the draw a few times there and have been successful. It doesn't come easy though and you have to scout the area ahead of time to know what your doing. Start practicing your calling too.
