For some reason, bears like to chew, wreck and hide trail cameras almost as much as they like tipping garbage cans.

I'm making a bear resistant box for my Scout Guard cam. This is it near completion. Serrated on the back to dig into the tree under pressure and on the front to discourage chewing. It also acts as a hood to prevent frost build up on the lenses. I may have to change the camo pattern for spruce trees.

I'll be making a people resistant one a little later this summer.

Nice work.
Do you just use a lock on the back to fasten the cables together?

I was going to ask the same thing, what cinches the cable tight on smaller trees?

It's just a snake cable that goes through it's own lock. I can also lag bolt it to the tree, but the cable will stop all but the most persistant bears.

The people-proof one will be much tougher and near impossible to get off the tree. Better camo to.
