Went north for grizzly last week. No luck with the bears but did manage to get a few sheep pics. Hopefully these guys put on a few more inches before the season starts.

New links.

Anyone notice the two different colored eyes on this ram? Wonder if he is blind in the blue eye?

The boy kept up OK. I was scared to take him across a couple creeks that were flowing pretty fast & deep so we didn't get into everywhere I wanted to go.

I am sure he had fun with his dad and NOT going to school. He is a good kid.

So I am no expert but by the way I am counting I am going to say 9.5 years old...more like 9.25 but bu hunting season I am going with 9.5

Am I counting right? I have added 1 year on for the lamb tip but this guy is starting to broom the tips a bit...

I was told at hunting season, add 1.5 years on to a stone, and 3 on for a Big horn... I do not know the validity of either method for adding years.

I was also told that is there is a heavily Broomed ram and the Lamb tips were broomed off, the Larges annuli is always the 4th year... Can anyone verify this?

Nice pictures BTW!

the Larges annuli is always the 4th year...Should go with what you read on HBC instead of that crap. Take a look at some previous Bighorn threads.

edit- sorry for being blunt. Should have realized your post was an attempt at humour. Guess I need coffee.

Just a reflection in bottom of eye.

Reflection of what? That blue haze color is in all three photos of that ram in the same spot on the eye and they are all taken with different head angles...can sheep get glaucoma .

Great Pics... That first ram is 9... He'll be gone in a few more weeks, he's likely seen a buddy or two take lead. We watched a group of guys try and hammer a ram right there at the cut... They had 3 trucks, and radios.... One truck about 1 mile either side of the rockcut... They were waiting for a break in traffic and then would have popped the ram. We were onto their game, so we hung around and played stupid tourists until the rams left.

BearChaser, would you mind if I used some of these pictures? I am creating an article for my blog on field judging thinhorn sheep and I am having a hard time finding live pictures of rams, these would be helpful.
