Just curious how many days guys are spending in the off season scouting. Are most guys waiting until later in the summer to start? Im primarily looking for mule deer and seem to find a lot of sign (looks like old droppings, winter fall range?)

I keep an eye open and make a mental note of all the bucks I see while spring bear hunting. At least 12 days total so far.

my scouting and hunting days seem to coincide:) unless you count the hours on google earth searching for new areas.

Google earth is great, don't see any tracks or droppings though!

Our hunting group did a trip the weekend before May Long. Packed a number of things in. Cleared trails and shooting lanes in some of our spots and ventured further and further to areas we haven't spent as much time in. We plan on doing a few more before the season begins.

burn some boot leather and use your bino's in August AM&PM, you'll find them, then hone in on the areas they are in september.

I spend Zero days scouting before the season, but on the other hand, I work in the bush every day, and it could be seen as piss-poor scouting being done every day.

Thats how I used to do it! Getting paid to scout for hunting. Hauled out some good moose doing just that!! Moosin

Still four feet of snow up in my chosen goat area as of last weekend. Too much yard work yesterday to do any more pre season scouting hikes. And the new boots arent in yet.

Gave myself a day off last week and spent it bear hunting and scouting out areas for fall deer hunting. It was a real education.
