Well thanks in part to some good advice from some of the fine people who frequent this forum i was finally able to harvest my first bear. My wife had mentioned that she would actually like to join me on an evening outing sometime, so as a last minute decision we headed out with only about an hour of daylight left (Tues. evening.) Courtesy of a right place at the right time situation and a well placed shot with my marlin mxlr we had a nice boar down on the ground at 8:25. After a quick gutting job and some serious sweating we had him in the truck and on the way home, still trying to register just how fast the whole thing came about. Had him skinned out in my garage, and enjoyed probably the most satisfying shower ever by 12:30. Not a real dramatic story but it certainly made me a very happy man, he was 6'2 and has a beautiful coat on him. Will post pics just as soon as i figure out how to transfer them from my camera.
