i hunted there back the years before the original cabins were burned down. the year they were burned we arrived about a day after and they were still smoldering. was a real shame as the cabins were very nice.

we were there last fall with our horses, memories just flood back. at that time they just had about half a dozen wall poles in so it is neat to see the progress. Question i have though, the natives said the cabins were for the Elders, or are they for the guides to bring clients to???

i would say for the guide outfitter, he has a few cabins already in there but i don't know for sure.

I am going to go and talk to Vern to go throw the ranch!! it's a rough trail around with the mud holes everywhere it is allot easier in the winter!!!

If they're building cabins at Horse camp then you can bet Verne won't be letting anyone through, this year, unless you have a Bison draw.

if you have horses there is an another way around the ranch and in the late fall you can quite often take quads also. leave the highway at the pink mtn post office and there is an oil road that stops overlooking the halfway and a trail to the river. you hit the road coming out of the ranch just before the trappers cabin.

you can also hit a cut line off the 156 and come in that way.

How is the area compared to 15 years ago ( The last time I was there ) what changes to the number of animals?

the bison are pushing the moose and sheep out !! look at the pics and see where the bison are, at the tops of every mountain from Vern's to horse camp!!

Just waiting to get drawn. I would love to take one of the huge bulls I've gotten to see in there.
Access across the river from the south was a little more difficult last year. The north side was backed up with beaver dams and deep water.

ya me to hope this is the year, last year allot of groups gave up or chose not to harvest there tag do to not the big one. i believe any bison is a trophy given the harsh conditions.

Agreed.
I put in for the early October hunt as we can hunt with horses. It's not a slam dunk to get up on a big one but there is plenty of opportunity past the four wheeler free zone.
I still think there needs to be a substantial increase to the number of tags available.
