Missdana's 2010 Monster Bruin

My 12 year old daughter, Jesse, shot an absolute CRANKER yesterday for her first big game animal. We have hunted hard since mid April and have seen over 75 bears thus far this spring. Many many runts, numerous sows and cubs and a few possible shooters. We've had several stalks that just didn't work in our favour. Finally yesterday we found the right bear and Jesse was able to drop the monster with her Model 99 300 Savage at 25 yards. The bear measures 7 foot from nose to tail (skin off with skull in, no stretching) and the skull green scores 18 15/16. Seems May 30th is the magical day for monster bruins. My son, Cody, whacked a 7 footer last year on the same day.

Jesse wants a shoulder mount just like her brother's bear, except with a turn to the left. The two monsters can have a face off then. :-D

Wasn't skinny at all. Pretty heavy boar. I could barely drag him 10 feet into some sunlight for the pics. He wasn't as bulky as Cody's boar from last year but that bear was the heaviest bear I've ever had anything to do with. Jesse's bear doesn't have a lot of scars either, just a couple rips in his ears. Doesn't look like a fighter but he is indeed old. Teeth are worn right down to gum line.
