I saw a bear today, it had a blonde back, light brown legs/head/neck. It was about 5'6"-6' 300lbs +/-.

I watched him in a shadow for a few mins, and I was confident that he was a boar, confident that there were no cubs, but struggling with the blond color phase because he was not white, and he was not brown... Blondish light brown... His back being the lightest and getting to a medium brown on all extremities.

I do not have any pictures and he is left to roam in the bush.... Is that a shootable bear?

The reason I ask is because March 31, 2009 there was a ban on shooting "White phase" black bears on the mainland.

It looked similar to this one... but darker on his legs and head

So you are saying it was not white ?
Then if the size matches up with what you hoped for, he should be a shooter.

White is all white. Good thing you let him go. What are the GPS coordinates, I will check him out and get back to you on that.

Correct, he was not white, but I was unsure of the extent of "whiteness" the bear had to be

If i had the GSP cordanates then we would have not got home at 2 am this morning... we kinda got a little lost, we had to back track from were we came from! finally got out of the bush at 11pm

we will have to talk about this over a whiskey or 2!

Sounds similar to the bear I killed on Sunday in MT. Very near the BC border. Here is the pic.

Kurzhaars are cool too. I have Drahthaars, the only difference is, mine leave puddles of water dripping off their beards leaving the water bowl.

Shoulda NAILED it.
White is white. Anything different is 'different' and not white.

It looked similar but more blonde and lighter brown extremities! Beauty bear! I wish that I had a pic like that right now :(
