Shot a bear the other night, measured 5 foot 9 with a metal tape nose to tail, that's not following the body hollows. The head seemed a good size so took the time to skin it out to check it out of curiousity. 18 3/4.
12 inches by 6 3/4. crazy long for such a narrow skull. Shot it for sausage and was not expecting it to be quite that big. Sorry no pics, never took my camera.
Skinned this one with out gutting it once at home, first time trying it this way, will do this again. Wrestled in onto the back of my quad to transport it the 20 kms back to the truck. Thought it might be a bit more tidy if it was intact. Worked out great.
Took a 6 foot 4 bear a few years ago, green scored 19 1/8, this skull is only 3/8 smaller but the bear is a whole lot shorter, they certainly come in all sizes.
