First post, First Bear

[keoke]

A drunk is pulled over by a female officer. She notices that the man is intoxicated and pulls him out of the car to arrest him. She says to the drunk, "You are under arrest and anything you say can and will be held against you....". The drunk interrupts her sentence and says, "Boobs".

With that out of the way, I went out last weekend to Hope and got my my first mamal, a color phase black bear. It was just me and my dog down a de-activated forestry road over grown with small trees when I heard a branch break and this guy walked out. He made his way 130 yards into the bush before he expired. Being by myself I deboned and skinned on the spot. I have to say that was the most exhilarating thing I have done to date. My camera died so I only got one pic so its all I have for now.

Nice work, I also got my first black bear this spring. Measured out at over 6.5', had a scar on his snout and four puncture holes on his head from fighting! It's a great feeling getting the first one!

Thnx everone for the warm welcome. I went with a plain, boring but effective cal. for my tikka, its chambered in 30/06. looks like I will be out again this weekend, my buddy really wants to fill his tag now. I would like to thank Justin Ott for putting out his black bear dvd, lots of information for a new hunter like me. I found out how to add pics properly, so I edited my first post.

he is the biggest bear i have seen lol, he measured 5'1" after I skinned him. Had my first bear dinner tonight too.
