Remove that region as fast as you can from your post this is my secret area and now everyone is going to apply there next year...

Awesome bear you have my grizzly beat that I took out of the same region 2 years ago by 5" in length and 3" on the skull.

Your bear is huge and maybe the largest ever taken in there...

simply amazing..not many interior bear get to square over 8 feet and far fewer over 9'....that in of itself is a great accomplishment..

But to have a skull in excess of 25 inches interior bear is another feat of a lifetime...to exceed 27 inches..is remarkable..most coastal bears skull wont go 27 inches...Tims bear was 9'4" and a coastal bear..its skull was 25 13/16 dried......yours being over 27" and on a interior bear wow...WOW..I note Pupper coastal bear was 25 14/16 and will end up being 25 11/16 dried also..

My interior grizzly was 24 14/16..and second oldest bear ever recorded in Canada...

You have not just raised the level you have blown it away..(I included other know bears and #'s to show how much bigger your bear is even than HUGE coastal bears )

well done...

cheers

Thanks mike (moose2) for posting the pictures . Rick and I left for a area 112km north of Fort Saint James last Monday for a grizzly/black bear hunt . The weather was great ,sunny and warm during the day but still dropping below zero at night . The snow was melting and the grass starting to green up on the south slopes . It just did not get any better than this if you were out looking for a big boar . On our way from Fort Saint James to camp we saw 6 black bears, 2 moose and 1 mule deer .The first bear was a good 6 foot 6 inch solid bear that just walk in to the bush 10 feet and watch us for 5 minutes . I told Rick lets leave him we will find a bigger one for your first bear ,while we never saw a bigger black or one that gave us such a great shot . But Rick did end up with a real nice cinnamon bear a few days later .We spent a total of 2 days in the area ,with no real sign of any grizzly . On the second day I did get a shot at a black wolf but missed . On the 3 third day we moved to a new area ,more to the east side of 7-28 . That afternoon after cutting a few tree off the road we found a area that we know would hold a bear . And that night we saw his tracks all over a logged off area , it must have been 1000 acres and his tracks seemed to be everywhere . It was hard to sleep that night thinking about what hopefully would happen in the morning . Well at 5 am we were awake and by 5:30 we were on our way to the area where we had spotted all of the track the previous day.But nothing, no new tracks or scat . By 9:45 we were looking for other places that may hold a grizzly , at 11:30 rick spotted a nice cinnamon bear and by 11.35 he was in the back of the truck . It was getting close to 5:00 pm and we had not seem any areas that looked better than our little honey hole , so we moved our camp 20 km closer to the area and headed out for another look .After looking around for over 2 hours we spotted a bear ,he was over 400 yards but I could tell he was a grizzly . Rick and I made our way to within 85 yards of him , he was looking for grass and had no clue we were there . As I looked through my scope I couldn't see a thing ,the sun was right above his head and all I could see was a big bright light. I waited what seemed to be forever .Than finally I could see him through he scope ,man did he look big at 6 power .I aimed for his front shoulder and pulled the trigger ,it hit him hard and he was on his back within a second .Not wanting to take a chance of him getting up I place a insurance shoot ,that hit him just back of the front shoulder and he was down for good . There were a few hi fives and a couple of choice word expressed as we walked up to were he laid , and we got our first real look at just how big he was . And like they all say now the work starts ,the camera and knives were back at the truck . So we made our way back down to Ricks quad and than a 18 km trip to the truck . By now the sun was getting low in the sky and the bugs were really bad ,so we thought it would be a lot easier to skin the bear back at camp . Rick grabbed one back leg and I the other ,but we couldn't get even his back end off the ground .Than we had a great idea, the quad was on a deck above the box we could use the winch of the truck to drag him up the bike ramps on to the tailgate . And it worked ,back to camp by 11:30 pm and a very late dinner . Day 5 was filled with skinning in the morning and the long 14 hour ride home that night . It was a great trip ,I would like to thank Rick for comming and helping me with getting such a nice bear . Over the hole trip we saw 42 black bears ,13 moose , 20 deer ,1 wolf and just one grizzly glad he was a big one . And a really big thanks to the people of this site that gave me information on the area and snow conditions ,it did play a large part in the hunt THANKS

Just wanting to say thanks again to the Trapman for an unforgettable hunt. This was my first time to do any bear hunting and I'm not sure if there is any way to top this one but I know that I now have the addiction and willing to try. Having the oppurtunity to hunt with someone with the experience can only keep getting better. Lookin forward to the next one.

Its my old trusty 300 win mag ,been with me for the bast 17 years and still does the job great . I have shot 4 griz and been on many other griz hunts and it seems placement of the bullet may be the most important part of the shot ,not the caliber

It's not the biggest from 7-28 ever no, and there's still some bigger ones wandering around out there.
I know.. One dragged my moose around once and it and it's friend circled as I was a gutting in the dark.

We've seen some BIG grizz in that area over the years. It IS however a very nice bear absolutely.
