I'm looking to buy a scanner for to listen for upcoming trucks while driving on FSR's. I'm looking to spend as little as possible. Radio Shack sells a couple for $99. Would these do?

different companies are liscensed to different frequencies.. sometimes they list the frequency number on the mainline, if not call the logging company and ask. then you can just check to see if the scanner will cover that band. Usually the logging companies are happy you are paying attention and the truck drivers are even appreciative if you transmit to them. You run into some technical legalities over having a radio that will transmit on some logging company frequencies.
that scanner does look like it would work for most logging company freqs but i have no experience with them.
