Got a call from my buddy Boyd today, he said, lets go out looking for turkeys. Well, we get to a certain area and go for a hike. Nothing too exciting(ya right!) he's watching a herd of elk during a turkey stalk, and I'm hunting down on a lower ridge. Just heading up to meet up with him and I decided to give a couple calls. Right away, 3 different answers!! WOW! So I hunkered down beside a tree and continue the calling, closer and closer! Across from me, about 25 yards or so, is another ridge top, all of a sudden a really loud gobble ,and a flaming red head!!! I took aim at the base of the neck and yippee!!! Turkey Down! Big Gobbler, about a 7.5 inch Beard! Good for my first one!!
We meet up, take a couple of pics(still coming), Boyd and I sit on a ridge for a bit, then decide to split ways. He heads down the ridgelines again and I head back to get the truck and meet him on the other side. Walking the ridges he's stalking turkeys, swings around to get ahead of them, then 1,2,3 toms! Walking right past him he decides on the biggest one(as I am down by the road) and bang! Down goes his!!!! YIPPEE!!!! We were out for 3 hours today, saw lots of animals, had a great hike, and double headered on the turkeys!!! Thanks alot Boyd, Great hunt!!:-D
