My Brother in Law has property up on Pinitan Lake and we will be going up in the next couple of months. Anyone know when the bears start moving about up there? It will be our first time hunting up there.
Thanks

The first bears will be appearing withing the next couple weeks, but those are few and far between, The first good bear hunting starts around the end of April, first week in May. Personally I find most of the bears apppear in the first week of May. The May long, or the weekend before are usually good. I like the weekend before cause you don't have as many people out and about.

I dont think kirby knows what he is talking about, there are no bears in region three but if i have to suggest another region try 5 or 8 and you will be filling you tag in no time!!!

Darn If there are no bears in all of those regions I guess I should hang up the old rifle. Either that or take it to the Zoo!

hey Rhys, my stupid neighbor up the hill here keeps his garbage out all the time, in a month you can have the black bears on my front yard

Mid April should see action. Best to wait until late April/early May. I've gone out every year on the first or second weekend of May and have bagged a bruin. I've taken them locally as early as mid April.

I guess mark is right i have not spent enough time in region 5 or 8 so i guess all that is left is the island, sorry for the mix up;-)

But on a serious note the mojority of bears will be out and about the middle of may like kirby said!!!!!

Last I checked, Port Moody was a fair bit away from Kamloops! I can forgive a city folk for bad map reading though!

Thanks for the replies guys, WE will probably be heading up a few times this summer so hopefully we can tag a couple bears during that time.

   I define "my backyard" a little differently. Anywhere within 2 hour driving distance is my backyard. So....yeah, I saw it. I've never hunted Kamloops, but from what I read in last year's posts guys kept harvesting bears till late May in that area.

Even though bears are scarce as hell up here , the best chance to see one of the remaining few up here would be the May long weekend. Mike

Hey the bears on the rock all have name tags on them already. So unless you have tagged one with your name it could be hard to find one.:-D :-D :-D

They'll be out pretty soon, May is a good time in region 8, loads of bears up here! Shot mine late last year, 20 minutes from Kelowna, he was the 6th I saw in 2 hours of my only day hunting for them. Come on over, the more the merrier! More hunters should hunt bears.
