Take the canadian firearms course to get a firearm. Take the core course to get a hunter number.

I can understand why your health would not allow you to use a firearm but why would your health not allow you to own a firearm?

There is a course for bowhunting - it's called the I.B.E.P.

International Bowhunters Education Program. It'll give you a real head start on bowhunting. It is usually a classroom/outdoor type course and IIRC it's a 2-dayer. Check out Hermit's thread...

But you don't need a course to own a bow.

No, you don't need any sort of course to own or to hunt with a bow. All you need are the usual hunting license (hunter number required) and species license/tag. Oh yeah, and a whole lotta luck.

So, what are we talking here, mental or physical health limitations? If it's the former rather than the latter, then perhaps it would be better to confine one's hunting experiences to video games on the computer.

Well if it was physical he wouldn't be able to shoot a bow, either. I'm thinking firearm ban.

I am on disability and my Dr and I don't see eye to eye on hunting.

T7,

Just to be clear, you still require successful completion of CORE for your hunter number and to buy a licence. If you want to limit your hunting experience to using a bow, I would recommend the IBEP course as a great skill development course. IBEP is not mandatory to hunt.

Last time I checked you don't need a dr's note.

Obviously a mental health issue here.
